Position Description: Are you an early career back-end software engineer who is looking to work on impactful and innovative products that will improve and protect our Nation’s way of life? If so, we want to talk to you! 

Caliola is developing several products that will help the Department of Defense (DoD) better leverage its existing and future satellite communications resources. We are also developing innovative solutions that will allow DoD systems to maintain accurate positioning and navigation when GPS is denied. We need early career software engineers to help us develop the back-end of these products and more. At Caliola, “back-end software engineer” is not synonymous with computer science. Our products are being built by a team with diverse technical backgrounds. 

Technical Responsibilities:  

  • Implement, test, and refine the back-end components of our application. 

  • Work in a test-driven, distributed, Agile team environment. 

  • Learn evolving best-practices in development tools, techniques, languages, and services. 

What We Require: 

  • BS in Electrical Engineering (EE), Computer Science (CS), Math, Physics, or related discipline. 

  • Fluency in one or more of Python, C++, and/or JavaScript is required. 

  • This position requires the ability to obtain and maintain a security clearance, which is issued by the U.S. Government. Security clearances may only be granted to U.S. citizens. In addition, applicants who accept a conditional offer of employment may be subject to government security investigation(s) and must meet eligibility requirements for access to classified information. 

What We Value:  

  • Experience with containers for streamlined application building, packaging, and deployment. 

  • Proficiency with Linux and Linux-based software development tools will smooth your onboarding. 

  • Experience with graph databases (e.g., Neo4J) is a plus.
