Position Description: Caliola is developing innovative solutions that will allow Department of Defense (DoD) systems to maintain accurate positioning and navigation when GPS is denied. For example, our patent-pending “SCAPP” product derives a position estimate from the relative geometry between shipboard satellite terminals and military communications satellites. We need experienced software engineers to help us develop these products and more. The ideal candidate is a “jack of all trades” interested in both software architectures and digital signal processing.    

Technical Responsibilities:  

  • Technical leadership and experience with software development for signal processing applications. 

  • Collaborate with product directors developing architectures and concepts for new features and products. 

  • Architect, design, and implement software components for the SCAPP family of applications. 

  • Maintain fluency in modern development frameworks and learn new programming languages as required. 

What We Require: 

  • BS in Electrical Engineering (EE), Computer Science (CS), Physics, Applied Mathematics, or a related field. 

  • Minimum 4 years’ experience as a software engineer. 

  • Experience as a technical lead contributing to and directing the efforts of a software development team. 

  • Fluency in Python and/or C++. 

  • This position requires the ability to obtain and maintain a security clearance, which is issued by the U.S. Government. Security clearances may only be granted to U.S. citizens. In addition, applicants who accept a conditional offer of employment may be subject to government security investigation(s) and must meet eligibility requirements for access to classified information. 

What We Value:  

  • MS in EE, CS, Physics, Applied Math, or equivalent experience preferred. 

  • Experience with containers for streamlined application building, packaging, and deployment. 

  • Experience with Kafka-centric microservices architectures. 

  • Proficiency with Linux and Linux-based software development tools. 

  • Experience with Software Defined Radio (SDR). 

  • Experience porting signal processing algorithms from high-level simulation and analysis tools like Python or Matlab to production software such as C++.
